Adobe software has become a prime vector for all sorts of malware.
Commonly Adobe reader is used to view PDF documents. While there are
alternate PDF readers out there, most users continue to use Adobe
Reader. Recently, it seems that Adobe has even taken steps to "lock in"
users so they must use the Adobe reader. The problem with Adobe
software is until recently, Adobe hasn't taken security seriously. In
addition, most Adobe software is old and has patch upon patch. They
really need to have a fresh start. Recently, Adobe has given
indications that they are going to abandon Flash and go to HTML-5.

Unless the files are huge, are the bandwidth savings really worth it?
Also just because we are using Linux doesn't insure one will not get
malware. I've heard that some of the security holes in the PDF format
might allow malware to be installed on Linux computers. I might be
paranoid about security and from my point of view, going to PDF is just
not worth it.
