"(hd0)", and that's fine if you want to write GRUB to the MBR. If you want
to write it to your linux root partition, then you want the number after the
comma, such as "(hd0,3)".

problem that I was having, in that being only one 250gb HD connected to my

told it to use the whole drive...Now he said that could be why it is not
booting up...I told him I have always done that and it has allways worked...

Larry,
Did you manage to fix this problem? I'm assuming from the conversation on
this thread that grub was not installed properly. You can fix that by
chrooting into your installation on /dev/sda1 and reinstall grub. There is a
comprehensive tutorial for grub on wiki.ubuntu.com, however i don't have the
full URL at this time.
Perhaps googling for grub2 ubuntu wiki and following the instructions there
should help you.
Best of luck
Bruce
