After I upgraded to Oneiric I started to experience about one up to 10-minute-
long wifi outage a day.
/var/log/syslog will say something like
Oct 30 16:36:47 platonas wpa_supplicant[815]: WPA: Group rekeying completed with XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX [GTK=CCMP]
then exactly 10 minutes and 3 seconds later
Oct 30 16:46:50 platonas kernel: [44509.074215] wlan0: deauthenticated from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (Reason: 2)
Oct 30 16:46:50 platonas wpa_supplicant[815]: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX reason=2
after which Network Manager will reconnect successfully and the outage
will end.
Not every "group rekeying completed" message results in an outage --
these seem to be happening every 10 minutes precisely, but I see an
outage about once or twice a day.
Not every outage starts immediately after the group rekeying completed
message. Those messages always appear at XX:X6:47 (or :46); I've
recorded outages starting at XX:X9, XX:X8, XX:X6, XX:X3, XX:X0. But all
outages end at XX:X6, when the time comes for the next group rekeying.
My wifi adapter is
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection [8086:4227] (rev 02)
My wifi AP is a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300-NH running OpenWRT Backfire
(10.03.1-rc4, r24045).
The wifi network uses WPA2-PSK.
I haven't seen this problem in Natty.
