Firefox and NoScript??

Nautilus is the file manager in the default Ubuntu install.  I don't
know about Xubuntu but you said that you used the file manager but did
not see the hidden files.  I will be very surprised if it does not
also have something very like View > Show Hidden Files.  Have you
looked?
