Thanks, but I tried that early on. /dev/dvd is just a link to /dev/sr0.
But, I tried both. Another CLEAN install, hands-off, did the trick.
That's why I don't usually do the dist-upgrade, it leads to tears. But,
I don't have the usual partitions I use as this has a mere 20gigs of
harddrive. But, when my motherboard finally comes back from ASUS, this
machine will be a fine backup machine for testing client stuff out on.
