Is there any way to make "unOBTRUSIVE notifications" UNobtrusive?

I'm still trying Ubuntu 12.04 in hope that at least some of the most
unacceptable for me things would be cured. Default NotifyOSD behaviour is
one of them.

Google brings tons of searches about how to get rid of notifications
completely system wide, how to get rid of them for a specific
application, etc.

My problem I do want to have them for every single app or service as per
default. However, I DO NOT WANT that damn bubble to stay there after I've
read the message preventing me of working. It is extremely distracting
and OBTRUSIVE to wait until it finally disappears.

I run across "brainstorming" (?) on Ubuntu Wiki. Well, in the meantime
wizards are thinking hard, does anybody knows some dirty workaround that
would enable a user to close the bubble at his/her own wish? Or the only
solution is to shutdown NotifyOSD completely?

Thanks.
