Someone already knew that. What someone meant was GNOME 2.x when someone
said that. I agree, it may look here as if someone needs to do their
homework, but someone already knew that, and meant something else. Someone
is sorry for the confusion :)

Ubuntu still uses GNOME.
Unity runs atop GNOME.
So does GNOME Shell.
