change permissions to copy pictures into backgrounds

Yet, I still would like to know the trick necessary to copy a few extra
pictures into the "backgrounds" folder.
The screen tells me, I am not the "owner" and thus have not the
permission to do so.
Well, I AM the owner of the computer, its one and only user =
adminstrator rights and the owner of the pictures in questions.
And I refuse to believe, that copying a few pictures will endanger the
entire system and cannot be allowed.
So, if there is a trick to copy my pictures into the (my) backgrounds
folder - I would like to know.
If not ... strange, very strange!
