PC Wipe script?

Hi all,

I am watching re-runs of Stargate SG-1 where Col. Carter keeps saying "I
can right up a program to do this and that", and it gave me an idea. I am a
computer consultant and I provide PC support, mainly for Ubuntu desktops
and servers for small businesses. One of the services I provide are small
Linux-based file servers I install on recycled 2-3 year-old PCs.

I'd like to have a script to nuke such a PC when I get it back (after
backing up all their data, of course...

I brought up the SG-1 reference because I'd like this to be a cool looking
graphical representation of the nuke stages (deleting files, partitions and
writing random data on the drive) for the customer's peace of mind. I would
run the script from a live CD Ubuntu session. Performing all those steps
normally is good enough from the technical point of view, but the customer
doesn't believe me it is really done! Getting him to use Linux in his biz
was hard enough...

So, having such a script bringing up a full screen cool looking split of
the tasks being performed, saying:"Deleting File:" and then the file names
being deleted running beside it, etc. would do the trick and it will let
the customer follow the progress and see when it is done, maybe by
splashing a blinking red "No Files Found on the Computer!! PC Nuke is Done
!!" right in the center, or some such...

Problem is I know nothing about programming.

Anyone interested picking it up? I am willing to help with what I can.

Thanks!

Amichai.
