dash not opening with super key

Anyone else experiencing this? the Dash will not open with a super key
press, unless said Dash has already been opened with a mouse click. I
searched and found it was an already reported bug; but, from what I can
tell, there has been no resolution.

One person suggested using the gnome-tweak-tool to set Desktop > Have file
manager handle desktop to Off and then back to On.

Another, possibly related issue, is that sometimes when I open the Dash, I
can use the arrow keys to move to the item I want and some times I cannot.
If, however, I close the Dash and re-open the dash, the arrow keys almost
always work.

Any thoughts on this?
