That is clear and succinct, thank you Nils.
The question is, can NM and resolvconf be excised without excising the rest
of the system? TBD. In any event their initiation scripts can be nuked if
found.
Having given some thought to the constant recopying of all my data, some
100Gb worth (wedding movies from a digital hi8 camera are BIG) and its
being basically in only 2 trees Or will be shortly because my /usr/pix and
/usr/movies is about to get moved to the /opt tree, I just took gparted to
another new terrabyte drive, and made two partitions on it. Labeled home2
and opt2. Those will contain copies of my /home and /opt directories and
an fstab carved up to mount them over the top of those two directories in
any new installs I make. Hopefully it will accelerate getting a new
install up and running.
