Thank you for all the responses.  I will try to download one of the 3.9
or 3.10 kernels from the ubuntu site.  The fixes that I need first
appeared in 3.9-rc6.  They are for alsa driver bugs affecting the CMEDIA
USB chip used in some DACs.
