Sound settings

Ubuntu 12.04 AMD_64 The sound settings is not finding any devices for 
the first user. Other users both standard and administrator it works 
fine. The volume control is also missing for this user. User is added to 
group audio. Sound is working, just no control or settings. Already 
googled for answers. Any ideas?
