you can install doc-linux-html for starts
and/or open up synaptic or software center and search on keyword doc
as there are various docs for assorted packages, if you are looking for
something specific. I hear that about the man pages. But, that many
years ago, they had a lot more information within them. I just went
through the man page for chmod and it mentions nothing about the values
used to manually set file attributes. Nor does the info page. I know for
a fact that it used to. But, the html docs have been an added extra
since 18 years ago. I guess you forgot.
At first I was wondering about your "getting help on your harddrive..."
thinking at first that you wanted little people shouting up at you,
