For the USB devices I have (I don't have a dm9601 device though) the 
kernel automatically loads the module when the device is inserted. If it 
doesn't work automatically for you after your next reboot, you can put a 
command

modprobe dm9601

in the file "/etc/rc.local". That script is run as the last script after 
power up. BTW: that script is run by root, so sudo isn't necessary.
