generic kernel and Cedarview drivers

I've got a Asus 1025ce (I know, whata mistaka to makea) which has the
Cedardview drivers that drives so many of us crazy. I got it working and
the drivers installed but there are a few features I miss such as being
able to auto hide the launcher and resize the launcher icon. After burning
up the internet researching this a long while came up with this:

http://ef.gy/ubuntu-cedarview-drivers

The problem is removing the pae's. I have Lubuntu on this system too and
if I remove the pae's I will remove the one(s) for Lubuntu too. I tried
and this is what happened. Do I need to do this step? Or is there a way
to avoid deleting the kernels on the Lubuntu partition? Recovering them
afterwards does not seem possible, at least not for me.

thanks
