no luck with flash with either firefox or chrome

Charles, make it EASY on yourself.
sudo apt-get install synaptic
Fire that puppy up. There will be a search bar at the top. Use that.
Type in chrome, it'll show up, plus anything else remotely related to 
chrome. Click to install, and it'll handle anything missing. I couldn't 
live without it. I much prefer it to software center, etc.

Next time you need something just do the search. Enjoy! Ric
