The place was the terminal program. I tried to run samba and it told me
it wasn't installed I had to use apt-get install samba4.
So I typed in sudo apt-get install samba4 and it said it would use so
much space did I want to continue and I pressed y
It installed it but it wouldn't work. I have recently purged it and when
I try to do a fresh install I get a whole list of errors which I have
posted in another reply.
I had all this running in 10.04, but that version isn't supported any
more. It has been a while since I have used a Ubuntu system. I was
considering changing my whole system over to ubuntu and getting rid of
windows, but I need the network to transfer files from my desk top to
the laptop.
Lots of other people use the laptop so it has to stay with the windows
system.
Thanks again for your reply.
