Yeah, but only mildly so; aptitude has a habit (in my experience at 
least) of getting dependency consequences awfully wrong, whereas apt has 
a pretty solid record of Doing The Right Thing.

You're not going to break anything by using aptitude (without it first 
asking your permission at least :) but you may find it offers less 
optimal results than does apt-get and that this doesn't improve much.

Were it to be actively advised against it would be removed from the 
repositories, so as long as it's easily available there shouldn't be any 
problems using it.
