It's not recommended because its dependency resolution isn't quite identical to
the one used by apt-get, and isn't the one that is generally tested. Also,
certain features are added to aptitude after they have been added to apt-get,
which may result in problems. Multiarch support is one example that comes to
mind, and had caused pain for some users.
That being said, a lot of people like Aptitude. Just remember that using it may
result in a slight chance of getting stuck with a package dependency or
installation issue.
