Ubuntu 13.04 - Wallpaper not showing after an update.

Same issue here! Not only the desktop wallpaper was not showing. The
whole desktop was messed up. 

I removed Cinnamon completely. I installed Nemo (that's the only part I
was interested in the Cinnamon package) by following the instructions I
found here:

...and everything was just fine!
