Window 8 in efi mode and Ubuntu in legacy bios mode

Interrupting the boot process by hitting F2 to get to the setup screen 
(normally I would say bios but that might be confusing now).  There is a 
line saying uefi "enabled".  I disabled this which put it in csm mode, 
which is a compatibility mode. Also I did disable secure boot.
