Thank you Liam. I have have read these amongst others and it does seem 
as this the way to do it. However, where I am confused is how and when 
to remove the live-dvd. I have done a dummy run and am surprised that 
using sudo did not require a password so I suppose boot-repair is not 
actually added to my hard drive. Am I missing something somewhere or 
just elderly and confused?
