video card problem?

I was watching videos on vlc when it stopped displaying the video.  I 
removed an re-install vlc, same problem.  I then installed gnome-mplayer, 
it also fails to show videos.

I tried with previously known videos which played (Colbert report) in 
mplayer and vlc, same result.


lspci shows:

lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL 
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 04)


Should I uninstall and re-install the driver?
