Nightmare trying to install Ubuntu on an HP Envy Touchsmart M7-J020dx

Never mind all. Discovered the problem.
It was a BIOS state gone bad. All I had to do was to reset to factory
settings and all worked as normal. That clear all.
It is embarrassing.
