That’s usually because of the lack of a plugin that knows how to play the stream. Some cam makers provide software that downloads right from the camera. But some might be windows only - you'll have to read the specs. You're just missing the player/codec.

Zoneminder has its own so when its working, you can view the image fine in zoneminder using the same browser. Getting zoneminder to work with the cam can be difficult.

What kind of cameras are they? Got a model number?

I got the cam to change from red to green by changing /dev/video to /dev/video/0. I thought I remembered from years ago that you just selected channel zero from dropdown menu. My mistake.

When trying to view the cam I just get a blank screen with a "broken icon" in center of screen, for lack of a better term. Like the browser doesn't know how to display the feed. Ice tea plugin is installed in chrome, and I get a popup asking for permission for it to run. (Chrome).

When Viewing a recording from modetect, its grey ish with lines through it, and there's 3 small screens in the recording next to each other. Away from home now, otherwise I would provide a screenshot.

Thanks for your input.
