Fixed it right up, two files there were owned my me and 2 were owned by
root.
However, my question echo's most of the rest of the posters to that "bug".
Howinhell did root get to own files that we should have owned?
I suppose its possible I even did it, but if thats the case, I did it
AFTER the failure to run as me, with a sudo. It didn't run that way
either IIRC.
Thank you Colin, that is much appreciated. I'll hand you a cold suds if
you ever show up at my front door. :)
Next question, attempting to survey my domain of /home/gene for some more
of those:
gene at lathe:~$ ls -laR .|grep root
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2014-07-16 16:52 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 152 2014-07-17 10:56 host
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 2014-07-17 13:11 linuxcnc
ls: cannot access ./.gconf/desktop: Permission denied
ls: cannot access ./.gconf/apps: Permission denied
ls: cannot access ./.gconf/..: Permission denied
ls: cannot access ./.gconf/.: Permission denied
ls: cannot open directory ./.gconf/apps: Permission denied
ls: cannot open directory ./.gconf/desktop: Permission denied
~/.gconf seems to have all sorts of pitbulls guarding it, and the linuxcnc
dir was created by root with amrecover, semi-expected but I'll fix it
anyway. Is ~/.gconf supposed to have all those hungry dogs posted around
it?
The /home/gene/host file looks as if its a scratchpad for amrecover &
could probably be evicted. NBD.
Cheers, Gene Heskett
