32-bit vs 64-bit

You all have been very helpful.

I would rather make this PC  a "pure Linux" PC. I have another computer 5 feet from this one with windows installed if I should ever need it for anything.
That's good news because when I blow this one up trying to install Ubuntu I can get with you all on the other PC to see where I went wrong.
