Yes. These and other issues were solved by moving to mysql's drop in
replacement, MariaDB. Maria solves SO many problems and isn't connected to
Oracle in any way. And, as it's a fork, you can literally drop it in on top
of an existing mysql installation, fire it up, and off it goes. I suggest
evaluating it yourself of course, but everyone I know who has used mysql in
the past is running as fast as they can to MariaDB as a replacement.
