Update manager 14.04

The process is cumbersome, but the information is there.

First look toward the top of the dialog where it says "Details of Updates"
and click the triangle next to it. The dialog will expand to include a list
with checkboxes (and usually more triangles and more hidden lists).

Next click the triangle near the bottom of the dialog that says "Technical
Description." The dialog will expand further.

Click to select one of the updates listed above and the "Changes" tab below
will show the release note(s) for the update. The name of the package (and
its version) appears at the top of the release note in the text area under
the "changes" tab.

To see a general description of the purpose of the specific package, click
the "Description" tab.
