Session manager

Thank you for reading this.

I have installed Ubuntu and Kubuntu desktops. A Google search mentions a
session manager to choose one or the other but his seems to only apply
to earlier versions rather than version 14.04.

I attempted to remove the Ubuntu desktop as follows:

sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop

This ran and seemed to remove files and when I elected to restart, the
Kubuntu logo was displayed. On restart the Kubuntu logo was again
displayed but then reverted to the Ubuntu password dialog and started a
Ubuntu desktop session.

So, how do I remove the Ubuntu desktop and set Kubuntu as my default
desktop?
