Upgrade to 14.10 from 14.04 LTS

The upgrade to 14.10 totally borked my system up. After it was finished
and I rebooted I could not even log in. It kept telling me my password
was incorrect. I reinstalled 14.04 LTS from the DVD and still could not
log in. I did an 2nd reinstall which totally wiped out the partitions
and went in as a new install. Please don't ask what the errors were as
[1]they went by too fast and [2]I could not find the install log.
Luckily my system is backed up with rsync every morning at 2:30am so I
only lost mail from yesterday. Did anyone else experience this or am I,
as usual, the only one who had problems?
