Are you sure the link is up?

Try 'sysctl net.ipv4.ip_forward'. If it returns 0 then IP forwarding is
disabled, as it is by default. 'sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_forward=1'
will enable it. Add 'net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1' to /etc/sysctl.conf to
enable it after next reboot.
