Good morning,

You’re in that scary spot where I would only advise it if you already knew how. It’s typically a bad idea to install packages from other releases. You sound like you’re really in a position where you know just enough to really wreck your system.

However if you were going to continue, I’d advise it like this:
1. Grab the deb from a wily repo manually.
2. Install it with “dpkg -i” 
3. Run “apt-get -f install” to fix the broken dependancies.

This could launch you into dependency hell, so really I’d recommend just using wily.

The other option would be to compile it on your own and use check install to complete the install

Of all of the options, checkInstall is the smartest IMO.


PS. Whatever you decide, DO NOT add wily repo’s to your apt sources.list. That will ABSOLUTELY wreck havoc.
