Benefits of using Catalyst driver?

Hi all!

I'm wondering whether there are any benefits of using the Catalyst
driver as opposed to the standard radeon driver on a standard desktop?
I don't run any games, but I was thinking more of desktop and video
performance. The card in my machine is an old Radeon HD5450 (I think),
and I run Xubuntu 14.10 with Enlightenment 19.2 and two screens.

So, apart from game performance, are there any benefits to switching?
