XP is a 32-bit OS. It can't use more than about 3GB RAM. There is no
point in giving it more.
(OK, yes, there was a 64-bit version but it's very very rare & still
outdated & unsupported.)
Try running a stripped-down install of 64-bit Windows 7 in your VM.
But you would be better off running a native Linux CAD program. Here are some:
