No need to be snide, Colin. Amazingly enough I did Google this issue;
clearly I used the wrong search terms, or perhaps the Launchpad bug was
too far down the list. Perhaps I should have searched Launchpad
directly. Mea culpa.

Looking at this issue has been very educational, I learned a lot about
apt and apt-get.
