My first reaction was: this software must be a scam, how can you send 
more power over USB by software?
But after Googling a bit, it seems some people have tested it, and it 
actually works.

I found this link that may help. It says nothing about Apple hardware, 
but I don't think Linux cares too much about which hardware it is 
running on :)
