Everyone has slightly different requirements, but there are some things
available to try. A Google search turned up GnoTime, which is available in
the Ubuntu Universe repositories. The reviews in the Ubuntu software center
are mixed.

Searching directly in the software center turned up Project Hamster (search
for Hamster to see all the parts), and those reviews are much more positive.

I found some other time tracker tools listed in the Software Center --
search for "time" or "timer."

It seems like one could cobble together a push-button solution using
LibreOffice Calc and some time stamp calculations. If it needed to be a
multi-user setup, maybe one could do something similar using Google
Spreadsheets. But maybe one of the available tools will do the job.
