My computer doesn't shutdown completely

Hello everyone and a happy new year!
I don't remember since when I've had this problem, but I've installed
Ubuntu 15.10 in October, and didn't have this problem. I think it is very
likely that this problem came with some updates afterwards.
Whether I turn off my desktop computer from the GUI, by clicking on shut
down or in the terminal, with (sudo) shutdown -hP now, most of the times
it doesn't completely power off. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it just
hangs with a cursor blinking.
I've just updated my BIOS but that didn't solve it. I also tried adding the
"acpi=force" line in /etc/default/grub. Doesn't make any difference,
although on the net it seemed to solve it (however this was for older
versions of Ubuntu).
Did anyone have this problem or might have any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks
