Is this correct? I'm asking, since I don't know much about Unity. I
guess there's just a desktop search and perhaps some GUI based package
management that belongs to Unity and that likely shares data, that
perhaps could be removed or disabled or simply not be used.
I'm using openbox, _but_ with an lxpanel weather plugin. I never
verified, if the weather plugin respects privacy :D.
IMO it's to consider to protect privacy as much as possible, but IMO
it's not necessary all the times. I run Windows in VirtualBox to sync
my iPad with iTunes, so I don't spend time to find out, if there's a
way to disable VirtualBox's phone home.
I use the iPad in Airplane Mode to make music, using it for Internet
access anyway is a PITA, even if it would provide privacy. However,
even the music software sometimes requires an Internet connection, at
least to purchase and to update it, to do this Apple already
enforces to get private data on a level that IMO isn't really legal in
Germany, but seemingly nobody cares about it. IIRC it was already
enforced, just to turn on the iPad for the very first time.
