Reading man pages is painful. It's how I learned. Be greatful that you
have experts you can ask, web sites (we didn't have much of a web in
1993 when I started) and so on. Seriously, it took me 2 years to get a
working Slackware 3.x system totally pimped out in the beginning.
And for the record, I dislike ip as well. :-) I still use ifconfig.
