Just as an asside, on my own system, I usually symlink the config/data 
directories of key programs (Firefox, Thunderdird, calibre, into an 
app_data directory inside of my data directory/partition.  Makes the 
backup simpler, since I still only have to backup 1 directory, without 
having to backup all of home and it's inevitable collection of garbage)
