SORRY! It's 16.04, not 16.10: networking disabled on laptop running ubuntu 16.10

PS: But it makes no sense to test, if ifconfig or a similar command,
doesn't show a device. At least regarding Wifi, check if the Wifi
button is disabled by Windows.
