Problem reinstalling Xubuntu 16.04

It's possible. Does it make a lot of fan noise?

Desktop or laptop?

If the former: open and clean thoroughly, with a sprayduster or
similar, observing ESD & fan speed precautions etc. Google for
details.

If the latter: Google for disassembly instructions.  Consider whether
it's worth it.

Or, install on a different machine and copy the partition across.
