Also, if you don't want the server packages try the Lubuntu alternate
image. Same ncurses installer, but just installs a minimal Ubuntu if you
don't select the Lubuntu stuff. Like the server image, there is a debug
log running on VC4 (Alt+F4 to access). This might be helpful if the
installer fails.

Yes, there is also the netboot mini.iso. It will also work as long as
you don't require UEFI support. There are no packages on it, so network
is required during installation AFAIK.
