How to force reading CD(-RW)?

Sometimes, I think maybe when I've used cdrecord, Nautilus won't show any
contents of a newly inserted CD-RW (I'm not sure this is specific for
CD-RW, but I don't use anything else). I know for sure that it's not empty,
the CD-RW itself is almost new, used twice or maybe three times and it
works in other drives. And it worked in the one in my Ubuntu computer
before I used cdrecord last time. It usually works again after rebooting,
but my question is now: Is there a way to force Nautilus to actually read
the CD-RW without rebooting the whole computer? If so, how?
If looking at it in a terminal, the following happens:
$ ls /media/${USER}/CDROM/
ls: läser katalog /media/${USER}/CDROM/: In/ut-fel
Translated to English, something like this:
$ ls /media/guraknugen/CDROM/
ls: reading directlry /media/guraknugen/CDROM/: In/Out-error
Is there something I need to restart? If so, what and how?
Kind regards
Johnny Rosenberg
