Hi,

there should be much more talk about hardware, especially in times when
there isn't much traffic on this mailing list and actually there isn't
much traffic at the moment.

Take a look at the minimal requirements mentioned by help pages:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements

Good luck with the mentioned screen resolutions. Nowadays windows
of some apps can't be resized to any wanted size you need. Those
applications assume 16:9 LCD displays. If you use a 4:3 monitor with
e.g. 1440x960, this means a huge black bar on the top and the button
and very small fonts, you still need to grab the window and move it
sideways for e.g.

https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=zesty&searchon=names&keywords=ardour
https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=artful&searchon=names&keywords=ardour

there aren't scroll bars anymore.

Better we talk about hardware, before we are surprised that lists with
Linux compatible hardware are completely useless.

Talking about CPU/GPU horsepower is very important, especially for those
using modern desktop environments. The help pages minimal requirements
never ever work for e.g. Ubuntu GNOME.

Regards,
Ralf
