For my own use, I buy the higher-end monitors, but I have to replace 
about 4 lcd panels a year for clients. I use acer or asus or dell or HP 
or other name brands carried at newegg and amazon in the US, but have 
never used LG. The main criteria is that the displays are bright enough 
for an office environment, and cost around $100-135 dollars.

I have not seen a dead pixel in the monitors I use in many years, so I'm 
thinking I will continue to not buy LG. Sorry to hear about your 
experience. My own experience leads me to say that dead pixels are not a 
common thing, so its not something you should expect to get in a 
reputable brand.
