So is mine.
My scanner is an Epson Perfection 2450 Photo. It used to work just fine
plugged into a USB port on my AMD computer, then it started giving
errors on the prescan dammit.
Found that it operated just fine with my little Toshiba NB520 which has
an Atom processor.
My workaround was to plug the scanner into my home server which also has
an Atom processor, install the sane backend on that, and tweak the
config files on both the server and the AMD desktop machine to scan over
the network. I've not used it lately but it was working perfectly from
any computer in the house.
So, do you have an Intel based machine of any sort that you can try
with?
